Physical Description
Hand(s)
Devanāgarī.
for 1–5 the scribe was Nandakeśvara.
For 6 no name is given.
For 7 and 8 the name is given on f. 187v, but much has been erased: adyeha śrīvṛddhanagare mahaṃrāṇākena likhitaṃ |
History
for 1–5 the date appears on f. 86v: saṃvat 1799 (= a. d. 1743, not 1723 as stated in Bodl. catal., p. 382a) māghavadi somavāº ekāº |
For 6 on f. 156v: saṃvat 1780 ⟨1724⟩ samaye phālgunakṛṣṇapakṣe tṛtīyāṃ tithau bhṛguvāsare |
For 7 and 8 on fol. 187v: saṃvat 1555 ⟨1499⟩ varṣe vaiśāṣaśudina 9 navamī śukle |
Provenance and Acquisition
written in red ink on f. 66v appear these words: tr ºgoviṃdarāmasyedaṃ pustakaṃ | This note (compare f. 86v) doubtless applies to 1–6. Perhaps too his was the hand that marked off the clauses in 6. Finally on f. 187v appears in red ink a note, of which only the following words are legible: saṃvat 1630 ⟨1574⟩ varṣe śrāvaṇaśudi 6 … | Possibly all these notices, except the last, refer to one man. The last may refer to the date on which some owner, whose name is illegible, had the MS.
The collection of Horace Hayman Wilson was purchased by the Bodleian Library in 1842.
