Two Upaniṣads with commentaries

The Māṇḍūkya Upaniṣad, with Gauḍapāda’s Kārikās, and Śaṅkara’s Māṇḍūkyopaniṣadbhāṣya, with the commentary upon the latter by Ānandatīrtha.

2. [fols. 155v-232v]

The Kaṭhavallī Upaniṣad, with the commentary of Śaṅkara, and the commentary thereon, called Kaṭhavallībhāṣyavivaraṇa, by Bālagopālayatīśvara, or Gopālayogin.

f. 154: pūrvāśramīsmaraṇārthadidyarasa-karamātāpūrakaranārāyaṇabhaṭṭaagnihotrīśrīmatpara-mahaṃsaparivrājakācāryaśrīśaṃkarāśramadāmodarā-śraniatryaṃhakeśvarakuśāvarttīmaṭhakāślkṣetrarāṇāmā-hālāmaddhye he pustaka Māṃḍūkyabhāṣyaṭīkā puskakahoya Acyutāśrameṇa likhyate | Similarly on ff. 205, 232v. In all three places Acyutāśrama, not, as given in the Bodl. catal., p. 365b, Acyutāśarman, is quite clearly the reading. The meaning of this is cleared up by MS. Wilson 94 (1010).

History

Origin: A. D. 1801.

the MS. is by the same hand as MS. Wilson 94 (1010) and therefore must be dated about a. d. 1801.

Provenance and Acquisition

The collection of Horace Hayman Wilson was purchased by the Bodleian Library in 1842.
