History

Origin: A. D. 1718 or 1778?

at the end of part I the following date is given: vilaṃbasaṃvachare māghasudhapāḍivā ǁ As the MS. appears to be fairly old, this may be a. d. 1778, or 1718, or 1658 (see C. P. Brown’s Carnatic Chronology): probably it is a. d. 1718. By the Bṛhaspati cycle, which is in use in the north, it would be a. d. 1708–1709, Sewell and Dīkṣit, Indian Calendar, p. xciv.

Provenance and Acquisition

Bought in 1887 from Dr. Eugen Hultzsch (MS. 29).
