Support: Paper.
Extent: 129 leaves: v + 121 + iii
Dimensions (binding): 12 × 27 cm.
Foliation: Devanāgarī numerals, bottom-right corner of the margin, verso.
Foliation: Arabic numerals in pencil, top-right margin, verso.

Condition

Incomplete: ff. 1–70, 102–110, 162–175, and some at the end are missing. Lacunae are marked on ff. 113r, 114v, 116r, 135r, 142v, 180v, 207r.

In a stable condition, with signs of previous conservation. Fragile end leaves (original wrapper leaves).

9 lines on a folio.

Hand(s)

Devanāgarī in black ink. Sections highlighted in red pigment.

Decoration

A stamp with Persian lettering in brown ink on f. 214v.

Additions: Occassional marginal and interlinear notes in at least two different hands.

Binding

Early 20th-century brown textile binding over pasteboard, with shelfmark and description tooled in gold on the spine. The original paper wrapper bound as front end leaves. Kept in a cardboard library box.

History

Origin: Not dated, 18th cent.?

Winternitz and Keith: ‘probably the end of the 18th century.’

Provenance and Acquisition

Bought in 1887 from Dr. Eugen Hultzsch (MS. 237).
